Bangladesh registered a three-wicket win against Sri Lanka on Monday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. With this defeat, Sri Lanka have been knocked out of the tournament. On the other hand, Bangladesh with their win remained in the race for Champions Trophy 2025. Earlier, Bangladesh had put Sri Lanka to bat after winning the toss as the latter were bowled out for (279) in (49.3) overs. For Sri Lanka, there were two good knocks from Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama who scored (41) and (108) to propel the team to a challenging total after the fall of early wickets. In their chase of the target, Bangladesh went through same start after losing Litton Das (23) and Tanzid Hasan (9) early but their innings was stabilised with the big knocks played by skipper Shakib Al Hasan (82) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (90) to set the base for team’s victory. Later, Towhid remained unbeaten on (15) to take the team over the line.
