In a stellar performance, Indian captain Rohit Sharma showcased his exceptional batting prowess against Afghanistan, hitting the ball to all corners of the ground. In the process, he achieved a remarkable feat, setting a new world record for the most sixes in international cricket. Rohit Sharma surpassed the legendary Chris Gayle from the West Indies, with 554 sixes to his name, edging past Gayle’s 553. During this innings, Sharma also etched his name in the history books by smashing the fastest century for India in the World Cup, surpassing the record previously held by Kapil Dev. He reached his century in just 63 balls, outpacing Kapil Dev’s 72-ball century. Notably, Rohit Sharma also eclipsed the iconic Sachin Tendulkar’s World Cup records, securing his place as the player with the most centuries in World Cup history, boasting seven centuries compared to Tendulkar’s six.
