India will once again have to do without the services of opener Shubman Gill, who is set to miss the team’s second World Cup match against Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Gill is currently recovering from dengue and had already missed India’s first World Cup match against Australia. According to a statement released by BCCI, Gill will not be traveling with the team to Delhi and will stay back in Chennai under the supervision of the medical team.
In the absence of Gill during India’s first match against Australia, the team faced challenges in their chase of 200 runs set by Australia. However, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played significant innings of 85 and an unbeaten 97 respectively, guiding the team to a comprehensive victory.
