Indian opener Shubham Gill is recovering from dengue ahead of India’s World Cup match against Australia this Sunday. Reports on Friday indicated Gill’s uncertain availability for the first match against Australia due to his illness. However, India head coach Rahul Dravid addressed the press and said that Gill’s condition has improved.
“He is definitely in a better mood today than yesterday. Our medical team is closely monitoring his progress. We still have 36 hours and the decision will depend on their assessment. He is showing improvement,” Rahul Dravid said on Friday.
When asked about Gill’s participation in the match against Australia, Dravid mentioned that the medical team has not ruled him out yet.
“The medical team has not ruled him out at this time. We will continue to evaluate his condition on a daily basis. We will make a decision the day after tomorrow based on his well-being,” added Dravid.
