Boasting an abundance of confidence, India will play their last Super four match of the ongoing Asia Cup on Friday against Bangladesh at R. Premadasa Stadium. India have been extensively forceful in their attack in the tournament with their performance that helped them win their previous matches. Two consecutive victories for India against Pakistan and Sri Lanka have kept them on top in the tournament. India advanced to the final of the tournament on the back of their thrilling 41-run victory against Sri Lanka. It’s been collective performance from Indian players with batters and bowlers giving top-quality performances. Interestingly, Bangladesh have already been eliminated from the tournament and India are already in final, so the result of this match will not affect any side. It will help India enhance their performance to play more brilliantly in the final while Bangladesh would look to finish the tournament on the positive as they would hope to get the victory in the match. The contest is just going to be a dead rubber with both teams looking to fine-tune their performance.
Going into this match, India may look forward to do some experimentation with their playing XI keeping in mind the upcoming ODI World Cup. Shreyas Iyer, who missed the last match due to Back Spasm, may be seen in action against Bangladesh. Iyer looked quite comfortable while practicing in nets. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have experienced a dry outing in the tournament with no win coming through for them. Bangladesh’s sole motive would be to finish the Asia Cup on high note. During the course of the tournament, Bangladesh also missed the service of their top players. Litton Das missed the group stage matches due to illness while Najmul Hossain Shanto was ruled out due to hamstring injury. Another blow for them came in the form of Mushfiqur Rahim who will be absent for India game.
