Indian batter Tilak Varma, who has been in sensational form in the India’s ongoing T20I series against West Indies, fell short of one run from smashing his consecutive half-century. Tilak remained unbeaten on 49* with skipper Hardik Pandya smashing winning six to take India over the line in the third match. India’s victory in the third match saved them from losing the series as they are back in the series with two matches still to go. Currently, West Indies are leading the five-match series 2-1. It’s been an incredible debut for Tilak Varma who has maintained great composure in front of the belligerent bowling attack led by West Indies bowlers .
So far, in the past three matches, Tilak Varma has played beautiful cricket with fine shot selection that has been lauded a lot as well. In the first match, Varma scored (39) runs while in the second match he registered his maiden half-century in T20Is. During the third match as well, Varma’s 49-run knock unbeaten helped the team in a big way. Tilak Varma was handed his India debut in the shorter format of the game on the back of his marvellous performance in the Indian Premier League 2023 where he scored (343) runs out of (11) matches.
This is a good start to Tilak Varma’s international career as he has been up to the standards so far and has met all the expectations which the management had from him. This is a good opportunity for Varma to cement his place in the team in the run up to the T20I World Cup 2024. Varma has been mostly projected as a fine T20I player where he has made no mistake in his game. But, ahead of the T20I World Cup next year there will also be (IPL) in which there will be players who would hope to cement their place in the team. Taking all those things into consideration, Tilak Varma would have to continue to maintain his great performance.
