
The high-octane World Cup match between India and Pakistan, which is originally scheduled to be played on October 15 in Ahmedabad at iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, is likely to be rescheduled due to the auspicious Navaratri Festival. As per reports, The match date, October 15, will be clashing with the first day of Hindu festival Navaratri, which is widely celebrated across India with full fervour, and local security agencies have expressed their concern over the security. It is also understood that BCCI have conveyed to the ICC about the same. It is also learnt that BCCI is likely to conduct a meeting on July 27th with all the state associations hosting the World Cup matches.
“We are mulling the options that we have and a decision will be taken soon. We have been told by security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navaratri,” a top BCCI official told The Indian Express on the condition of anonymity.
