West Indies have named their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India which is scheduled to begin from 27th July. Batter Shimron Hetmyer and fast bowler Oshane Thomas have made their comeback to the team. After a long time, Hetmyer has made his return to the team as he was last seen in action in ODIs for West Indies in July 2021. West Indies have not had a great time in terms of success due to their poor performance. Recently, West Indies also failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup (2023) while suffering defeats in the World Cup Qualifiers. Heading into this series, West Indies would want to get into some great rhythm after having had many setbacks.
West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes welcomed Shimron Hetmyer and Oshane Thomas by stating that they both will be providing a lot of help with their batting and bowling respectively.
“We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the group. Both have played at the international level before, with some success, and we believe they will fit well into the set-up. Oshane brings pace and is a potential wicket-taker with the new ball. Shimron’s style of batting will offer a lot, especially in the middle stage of the innings and he is also a potential ‘finisher’”, said West Indies’ chief selector Desmond Haynes.
