India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been away from the proceedings for a quite long time due to the serious injuries that he sustained during the car crash accident last year. Pant’s absence was greatly missed during the IPL 2023 as he was the regular skipper of Delhi Capitals but the injuries didn’t allow Pant to make himself available in the IPL. Not only IPL, Rishabh Pant also missed many crucial series for team India as well. But, Pant has been on the path of recovery now as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had issued update on Rishabh Pant. As per update from BCCI, Rishabh Pant has resumed batting practice. Meanwhile, Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma is in a bit of dilemma about Rishabh Pant’s return to action anytime soon.
“I feel we might not see Rishabh Pant in the next IPL as well because it is not a small injury. It was a very serious accident. He has just started batting and wicketkeeping and to run and turn after that, there are a lot of things, which is not easy for a wicketkeeper and a batter,” said Ishant Sharma while speaking to JioCinema.
“The good thing is that he didn’t have a second surgery. If he had undergone a second surgery, he would have been out for even longer. He has had one surgery now but I don’t think he will be fit for the World Cup for sure. Hopefully, if he gets fit for the IPL, it’ll be great,” said Ishant Sharma.
