Riding high on the back of successful performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma, Team India registered a huge victory by beating West Indies by an innings and 141 runs in the first Test on Friday at Windsor Park Dominica. R Ashwin returned with the tally of seven wickets to bundle out host for (130) in their second innings. Team India had declared their first innings for 421/5d where there were powerful innings from Yashasvi Jaiswal (171) and Rohit Sharma (103). Virat Kohli too had made major contribution with his 76-run knock.
Earlier, West Indies had won the toss and decided to bat as they could only muster (150) in their first innings after Indian spinner R Ashwin returned with five-wicket haul. For West Indies, they didn’t receive any big partnership from their batters which led to their complete downfall. The second and final Test between both teams will be played from 20th July at Queen’s Park Oval.
